Fire Door Compliance Services Dorset | MYLU Fire

Practical fire door compliance support for property owners, landlords, managing agents and facilities teams across Dorset and the South of England.

A practical approach to fire door compliance

Fire door compliance is about maintaining appropriate fire safety measures and keeping fire doors in suitable condition for their intended role. It is not simply a question of whether a door is labelled as a fire door: condition, components, installation, maintenance and the building’s fire strategy all matter.

MYLU Fire helps clients turn inspection findings into clear actions, with defect information, photographs, priorities and practical remedial recommendations.

Understanding the Responsible Person’s duties

The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 places duties on the Responsible Person to carry out and regularly review a suitable fire risk assessment and maintain appropriate general fire precautions. The Fire Safety Act 2021 clarified that individual flat entrance doors and other relevant elements are within the scope of the Fire Safety Order.

The Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 introduced additional fire-door checking requirements for relevant multi-occupied residential buildings. For buildings over 11 metres, the regulations require best-endeavours annual checks of flat entrance doors and quarterly checks of fire doors in common parts.

From inspection findings to a clear action plan

Where defects are identified, we can help separate issues that require prompt attention from planned remedial work and ongoing maintenance. The correct action depends on the particular door assembly, building, risk and applicable requirements.

  • Fire door condition inspections
  • Photographic defect records
  • Defect schedules and priorities
  • Remedial work planning
  • Installation and replacement support
  • Maintenance and follow-up records

Compliance support without overclaiming

A routine fire door inspection is not the same thing as a fire risk assessment or a detailed technical assessment of fire resistance. We keep our reporting clear about what has been inspected, what has been observed and where further specialist assessment may be required.
